The only reason they said they were disappointments was because they were just listening to the pop songs on the radio and not the albums. The albums as a whole are works of art.

The Weird Al concert in July was fucking amazing. 2 and half hours of old and new. One could not go away disappointed from that.BeamStalkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17772110446629492132noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3375512083268389933.post-8916599186879991322010-08-31T11:44:20.233-05:002010-08-31T11:44:20.233-05:00I call shenanigans!I call shenanigans!Gedshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15047239425466517786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3375512083268389933.post-76060970576625407882010-08-30T23:35:42.458-05:002010-08-30T23:35:42.458-05:00Nope. You've been pushing 21st Century Breakdown and I've been less than enthused, I'll admit. But I do believe I have a copy of the special edition American Idiot that I bought the first day it became available.

It might have taken you a bit to convince me to care enough about Green Day to pay attention again, but I was on board before the album came out.Gedshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15047239425466517786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3375512083268389933.post-12698015900311264142010-08-30T22:50:48.788-05:002010-08-30T22:50:48.788-05:00Hey everyone! Geds does posts by request now!
Wel...Hey everyone! Geds does posts by request now!

Well, maybe not, but thanks for following through on this one. Sounds like an excellent show- and long, too. First time I saw them was on the Warning tour, and still my favorite Green Day show. Over half of Dookie, NGFL opener, great random stuff off Nimrod and Insomniac I wasn't expecting. Also, the Aragon. Fuck yeah. Second time was International Superhits tour, and as they were opening for Blink 182 (unbelievably sad face), it was like an abbreviated version of the first one. The last time, which was the first American Idiot tour, they probably played less than two hours, and Fiat and I were directly in front of a guy who was alternately worried about getting his kids a contact high from our concert accessories or getting his kids' asses kicked by the My Chemical Romance induced mosh pit. Good show-- Seriously, King for a Day live, with all the tags, is outstanding every damn time-- but I think I had noticed a downward trend in their performance quality over the three shows. Based on this report, and the setlists I've read on setlist.fm, I think they've reversed that. I even heard they were filming a DVD of the show you were at. I'm guessing you'd award that a "buy"?

Beamstalk- Other than constantly bringing up Boulevard of Broken Dreams and 21 Guns and such, I don't think there's a way to argue the last two were disappointments. I was the one who insisted- repeatedly- that Geds get American Idiot in 2004, and for a while, it was my favorite record ever. Eventually I got a little sick of the pop songs, but it's still awesome. I think at this point I actually like 21CB better, and I'm in the midst of a pretty strong Green Day kick myself. Now, if only we could get them to play Armatage Shanks and Stuart and the Ave...The Everlasting Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09252574210931882076noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3375512083268389933.post-90369949003986161562010-08-30T14:47:27.479-05:002010-08-30T14:47:27.479-05:00I am 5 years older than you and have always loved ...I am 5 years older than you and have always loved Green Day. I have had friends talk about how the last two albums were let downs and I would immediately ask have you heard them? The answer was usually no. I think American Idiot is their best album to date. I missed them on the tour of American Idiot because of my fundie wife. I completely understand where you are coming from.

In junior high I was forced to watch the classic "Hell's Bells". I sold my soul to rock'n'roll when Nirvana came out.BeamStalkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17772110446629492132noreply@blogger.com
