I found it uplifting as well, and also very funny.

It has been a great experience for me to be learning about Christianity outside of evangelicalism after all these years -- outside of the One True Sect of Christianity. ;^) And it does help to let go of the resentment towards Christianity.atimetorendhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10563649474540441597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3375512083268389933.post-5380533815861945732008-12-23T03:27:00.000-06:002008-12-23T03:27:00.000-06:00Though I'm a little late in saying this, I note th...Though I'm a little late in saying this, I note that I was surprised to learn that Evanescence really was (sorta) a Christian group at the time that song was recorded. There was a difference among the members over it and some of them walked out.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3375512083268389933.post-63693542308077141302008-11-28T12:58:00.000-06:002008-11-28T12:58:00.000-06:00Just a satisfied reader saying "thanks".Just a satisfied reader saying "thanks".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3375512083268389933.post-85789897061278705542008-11-27T22:15:00.000-06:002008-11-27T22:15:00.000-06:00I wrote a post at least partly in response to what...I wrote a post at least partly in response to what you wrote here, if you're interested.

You should also check out mewithoutYou. And I don't understand how it is that they're still the favorite band of Evangelicals. How many times did you sit at WBC and hear "U2 is my favorite band because they're Christian?" Which right there should make them uninteresting. But then you find out that Adam Clayton had a serious drug problem and dated Naomi Campbell and that was very Hollywood behavior and very unchristian. And Bono smokes and drinks like, well, an Irishman.

They explore Christianity in their music, but they almost broke up because Edge and Bono got totally involved in this crazy Christian group and Adam and Larry were like WTF? But then Bono and Edge came to and left the group and the band stayed together. But if they hadn't left that group of crazy, nutjob Christians, U2 would no longer exist.

And that, Alanis Morrisette, is irony.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
