Hear Ye, Hear Ye!

Fiat Lex and The Woeful Budgie have caused me to see the error of my small-minded ways. When I originally conceived of the Breakaway Music Review, my plan was to write and respond to my own questions. That, I now realize, might amuse me for a while but has a limited appeal. Plus, I now know that I have a reasonably decent amount of traffic, so I can safely open the floor without fear of feeling like a friendless loser. Therefore, anyone who wants can simply slap up a request in the comments on this or any subsequent Breakaway Music Review post, preferably in the form of a letter written in the voice of a teenager who is desperately trying to get approval for his or her favorite band. I figure between the power of the internets and my own fairly extensive collection I'll be able to come up with something to say about pretty much anything. I'll periodically write a review post and hopefully between me and anyone out there who has also read Breakaway/Brio (I'm looking at you, Woeful Budgie) we'll be able to come up with examples of the sort of letter that came in, just to give it that extra authentic flavor. So have at. Also, Fiat Lex, I came up with something totally off the wall to do for TMBG, so your wish will be granted...

One more comment. Ok so I can say this as someone who has known you all your life. You remember way too much crap. I had a Brio subscription and can honestly remember absolutely nothing about it. Probably good since it means I have purged James Dobson from my brain, but good lord kid. Sometimes, you're a tad ridiculous. And you say I'm like mom because I'm stubborn - you have her memory!

Remembering way too much crap might be an asset for a historian, though.

Dear Breakaway,

I love Barenaked Ladies!! They're the best band I've ever heard, and I've heard TWO BANDS! Aren't they ok?? After all, I mean, God doesn't even know about Canada... Does He??"

Dear Geds,

My friend introduced me to this great band called Cake, but when my youth pastor found out, he didn't seem too thrilled. There's a song on one of their albums called "Satan Is My Motor", and while my friend says it's just a metaphor, my youth pastor is worried that I'm compromising my standards. He says that we have to be on our guard at all times, because Satan will use anything to try and trip us up in our walk with God, even rhetorical devices. I don't want to be just another lukewarm Christian, but I don't really see any big deal. What do you think?
