Well here's another good reason for me to look forward to my impending possible move to Dallas.
The cops issue citations for not speaking English.
I think I'd like to stick with the ol', garden-variety Chicago police corruption. Money, as everyone knows, talks in any language.
Oh, and since I'm hear and shameless:
I'm sure the Dallas Chapter of the Geds Fan Club has made their plans to be at
Jack's Backyard to hang with Jessi Lynn and Sarah Peacock tomorrow night. Good. Good.

6 months ago an off-duty Chicago Police Officer beat a female bartender to within an inch of her life for cutting him off after he'd already had WAAAY too much.
No police agency is perfect, and the larger it is the more stupid and irresponsible stuff you see.
On the plus side, your potential future workplace is in the burbs, and you'll more than likely live in the burbs aswell, meaning you'll have about as much first-hand contact with DPD as you do with CPD (which is to say: virtually nil).
Just stay out of Carrolton and Arlington and you should be pretty good...
Also, don't f*ck with Garland police. Do the following, and you'll be fine: Yes, sir. No, sir. Right this way, sir. Don't beat me, please, sir.
To be fair, Kunkle has done a lot so far to increase the effectiveness of the DPD. I think he's handling this situation correctly, and it looks to be an honest mistake on the part of some of these cops. All tickets are printed on the spot from a handheld computer, so it's easy to see the pull-down thing happening.
On another note, the last time I got a speeding ticket (85 in a 60... ouch), the cop presented my ticket and let me go in under five minutes. That has to be some kind of record.
big a:
Oh, yeah, I forgot about that. But, to be fair, he wasn't operating in his capacity as an officer of the law. I'm pretty sure that guy would have beat the crap out of the bartender if he was an off-duty construction worker or lawyer, too...
Fake Al Gore:
Be nice to the Garland PD. They're just trying to deal with the zombie apocalypse...
However, I might get myself in trouble. I once argued with an Illinois State Police trooper. And won.
"the cop presented my ticket and let me go in under five minutes. That has to be some kind of record."
I got nailed in a speed trap in Plano (I still contend the school zone signage was inadequate, but whatever...) and it was about that fast.
That said, don't get issued a speeding ticket in Plano, it wound up costing me $226 total for the ticket, ordering my driving record from the DPS, and doing the traffic school thing...
My ticket, if I remember correctly (this was in 2006 when they had just started the ticket printing thing), was $285. I wound up only paying a $98 administrative fee and getting deferred adjudication.
This story made Keith Olbermann, by the way. Of course, he failed to mention the obvious programming error. He always leaves out important details like that, which is one of the reasons I don't watch his show anymore (my wife does, though).
There should be some sort of validation for that field. If you check this box, the license entered must be commercial or something.
